Role of Destination in an Entrepreneurial Journey

Often, when entrepreneurs after turning from an employee of a corporation to the leader of their own business, the biggest challenge they face is to set their destination. It’s now their responsibility to keep themselves motivated and moving forward through thick and thin.

This is the time when the power of chasing your destination comes into the picture. To begin with, setting up a destination is very important. And to reach that destination, passion and persuasion are the key sailors. Of course, it is challenging, especially when the experience is new and the entrepreneur is consumed with working in the business rather than working on it.

“Tell yourself every day: I am not a job seeker, I am a job creator! Defining your destination should be based on imagination, not on what you’re able to do today. When you define your destination, be as wild as you can. The journey towards it will be worth it.”

Says Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Founder of Grameen Bank, in the keynote speech of Hubli Development Dialogue 2016. Prof. Yunus changed the definition of the banking system through his idea and persuasion. He sought of creating a difference in the lives of poor people from Bangladesh. In line with that persuasion, he founded the Grameen Bank, which currently lends over a billion dollars every year to mostly women who form 97% of the borrowers. A country like Bangladesh has a critical job crisis so in order to reduce that unemployment, he started ‘Social Business Fund’ that helps job seekers to turn into innovative entrepreneurs through their hard work and the power of innovation.

Prof. Yunus has set a great example in front of budding entrepreneurs by showcasing the power of dreaming and dedicatedly chasing the destination with all ups and downs.
