Navodyami – A platform for small businesses to scale up

Statistically, over 50 million micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in India are contributing around 37 percent to the GDP. These enterprises are majorly contributing to local economies but somehow lack in understanding the market dynamics that are required to scale their ventures.

Despite having various government schemes that promote entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises, the needy enterprises in rural and semi-urban areas hardly get benefited. A majority of the enterprises remain as unregistered entities and do not get access to these schemes.

To address this gap, Sandbox has introduced the Navodyami program, that provides an enablement platform for entrepreneurs at  the grassroots level which provides them with an opportunity to grow their business.

Navodyami promotes micro-entrepreneurship as a viable proposition for supporting livelihoods at the grassroots level. It is enabling small entrepreneurs in rural and semi-urban areas having unique products but lack the means to scale up their business and thrive. This is creating a ripple effect on the lives of the communities by creating job opportunities.

For a lower middle-class woman like Raziya Begum, it was a dream come true when she scaled up her dairy farming business and her earnings increased from INR 200 to about INR 1200 per day.

The impact so far is that it has empowered more than 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs and helped over 200 businesses to scale up.
