The 7th<\/sup> Yuva Summit, an international youth conference on leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship, is hosted by the Leaders Accelerating Development program. The conference began in Hubballi on the 28th of January with over 1,000 attendees, including students, faculty, entrepreneurs, and honoured guests.<\/p>\n

Six stand out youth from the LEAD Program<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

LEAD Talk<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first session of the day began with a LEAD Talk, an opportunity for six stand-out youth from the LEAD program to share their stories on stage in front of full auditorium of 1000+. The young leaders inspired the audience of \u00a0their peers, as well as their elders.\u00a0 Featured leaders were Vedanth B (K.L.S GIT Belgaum), Santosh Biradar (DET), Deepali Bhosle (Smt. A A Patil’s Womens College Chikodi), Sriujan Mara (VREC, Nizamabad), Veeresh Varur (REC Hulkoti), and Prajwal Rao (Mysore University).<\/p>\n

Inspiring Sessions with Role Models\/ Keynote Speakers:<\/strong><\/p>\n

We were honored to host many esteemed role models, including Magsaysay Awardee Bezwada Wilson<\/strong>, Deshpande Foundation Founders Dr. Gururaj Deshpande<\/strong> and Jaishree Deshpande<\/strong>, Open Water Swimmer Bhakti Sharma<\/strong>, MD of Kirloskar Ferrous Ltd\u00a0R. V. Gumaste<\/strong>,\u00a0Deputy Director for Science and Technology at the MIT Energy Initiative\u00a0Dr. Robert Stoner<\/strong>, Triple Effect Founder Sally Ng<\/strong>, SHAD Coordinator Nichoas Clermont<\/strong>, S Mobility Chairman Dilip Modi<\/strong>, Author\u00a0Adhitya Iyer,\u00a0<\/strong>Adviser\u00a0to the HITACHI Chairman\u00a0Raju Reddy<\/strong>, Secretary of the IT, Electronics & Communications Department of the Goverment of Telangana\u00a0Jayesh Ranjan<\/strong>, and Maesh Jadhav<\/strong>, Founder of the Maesh Foundation.<\/p>\n

Faculty Panel Session:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Faculty Panel session began\u00a0and featured notable faculty members from across the country. Veeranna D. K.<\/strong> (SGBIT Belgavi), Arun Kumar M.V. <\/strong>(Bapuji Polytechnic Davangere), \u00a0Vasudev Parvati<\/strong> (SDMCET Dharwad). International delegates included\u00a0Leon Sandler<\/strong>\u00a0(Executive Director, The Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at MIT)\u00a0and Nicholas Clermont\u00a0<\/strong>(SHAD Youth Engagement Coordinator, Pond Deshpande Center at Queens University) also joined us in this panel discussion.\u00a0Sally Ng<\/strong> (Founder and CEO, The Triple Effect Inc.)\u00a0moderated.\u00a0The panel primarily discussed the ways in which youth innovation and entrepreneurship was administered in the programs they carry out.<\/p>\n

Project Showcasing:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout the day at Yuva Summit, 60+ of the top LEAD projects of the year (chosen from over 6,602\u00a0projects) were exhibited on the event grounds. Stalls were inaugurated by R. V. Gumaste and Bhakti Sharma. Proud LEADers talked to their peers, entrepreneurs, and faculty about the positive impact they were making in their communities.<\/p>\n

Awards Ceremony\/ Evening with Legends:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Faculties and youth were acknowledged for their excellence through multiple awards for their outstanding efforts.\u00a0These awards were presented by renowned legends\u00a0Dr. Desh Deshpande, Jaishree Deshpande, Raju Reddy, Dilip Modi and Bezwada Wilson The \u201cBest Supporting Faculty\u201d was awarded to V B Grampurohit<\/strong> (Smt. Kumudben Darbar College, Vijayapur), Dr. Veeranna DK<\/strong> (SGBIT Belgavi). KLS Institute of Technology Belgavi<\/strong> was presented with \u201cBest Performing College\u201d. Smt. Kumudben Darbar College, Vijayapur<\/strong> was awarded\u00a0with \u201cBest Supporting College” and\u00a0Smt. A A Patil\u2019s Women’s College Chikodi<\/strong> was awarded \u201cBest Supporting & Performing College\u201d. Five youth were awarded \u201cBest LEADer\u201d for their innovating projects. This included Bhimshi B Udachannavar<\/strong> who was recognized\u00a0for the innovative breaking system designed for bullock carts, Vishwanath Hiremath<\/strong> (Smt. Kumudben Darbar College, Vijayapur) who replaced 18400 taps in Vijayapur City, saving 8 lac\u00a0liters\u00a0per week,\u00a0Nikita Chougala<\/strong> (Smt. A A Patil’s Womens College Chikodi) who built over 100\u00a0shelters for cattle in Borgal Village, Manjushree Kamble<\/strong> (Smt. A A Patil’s Womens College Chikodi) who successfully\u00a0lobbied for\u00a0a 2.5 lakh drinking water facility for her colony\u00a0and\u00a0Gurudatta E<\/strong> (HPPC Govt. First Grade College Challakere) who helped 200 individuals\u00a0get\u00a0labour cards. Other awards were presented to\u00a0Niranjan K<\/strong> (AITM Belgavi) as the \u201cMost Entrepreneurial Idea\u201d for the low cost portable water filter that he designed costing only Rs 25. Lastly, \u201cMost Innovative Solution Technical\u201d was given to Yuvaraj Patil<\/strong> (VSMIT Nipani) who established a multi-talented robot machine for arecanut farming.<\/p>\n

Yuva Summit presented, An Evening with Legends, where the five legends demonstrated their knowledge, passion, and inspiration for making a difference. All attendees appreciated being able to listen, and take in the knowledge shared by these change makers. During this session, Mr. Gururaj<\/p>\n
